Network nabs rights to Toronto-based toon

LONDON — Jetix Europe has acquired European pay TV rights for the adventure comedy toon “Iggy Arbuckle.”

Series, produced by Toronto-based Blueprint Entertainment in association with National Geographic Kids’ Entertainment, revolves around a piglet called Iggy and his efforts to protect the imaginary Kookamunga National Park.

Iggy made his debut in comicstrip form in 2004 in the National Geographic Kids magazine.

Jetix said Monday that the series, aimed at the 6-11 age bracket, will air on all its European channels beginning in August.

Beyond pay TV rights, Jetix also has obtained pan-European TV distribution rights, except free TV distrib rights in French-speaking territories and Germany, and homevideo and consumer product agency rights, except in Scandinavia and Central Europe.
