TOKYO — Japanese film fans will be able to see the red-carpet events at the world preem of “The Golden Compass” live from London on their 3G cell phones.
Distrib Gaga Communications announced Tuesday that it has linked with mobile communications giant NTT Docomo to beam the Nov. 28 broadcast, the first of its kind.
Users of NTT Docomo’s Foma 3G third-generation mobile phone service will be able to catch the events on the V Live mobile broadcasting service. They will not, however, be able to watch the pic.
Launched in May 2003, V Live provides live and archived content to Foma users. The first 3Gin the world, Foma offers users wireless voice services and broadband. Foma had 40 million subs at the end of the September.
Gaga will release “The Golden Compass” on the Shochiku and Tokyo circuits March 1.
