Sony’s homevid arm has tapped Robert W. Rubin as exec VP.
He will oversee biz affairs for sales, marketing and operations and negotiate business transactions. Additionally, he will spearhead the homevid division’s faith-based and family entertainment initiatives.
He comes to the studio after serving in several exec posts at Universal — including stints in the feature film, home entertainment and consumer products divisions. Most recently, he was exec VP of U worldwide entertainment and U homevid.
As such, he managed all aspects of the made-for DVD business on studio franchises such as “American Pie,” “The Land Before Time,” “Bring It On” and “Curious George.”
“Bob’s fine reputation as a seasoned entertainment executive and his broad expertise in the areas of business affairs and production will be especially critical as SPHE expands its family entertainment and faith-based activities through the acquisition, development and production of content for these genres,” said Sony homevid prexy David Bishop.
