Thompson Takes Swipe at Hillary

In his appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," Fred Thompson reiterated that he was interested in the presidency but stopped short of announcing a campaign. He did mention his website, Imwithfred.com.

And he sounded like a candidate when he offered criticism of Hillary Clinton. According to the AP, he said she was "trying to balance … her prior positions with the new requirements of politics in the Democratic Party."

"I’ve never craved the job of president, but I want to do some things that only a president can do," he said.

And he offered a familiar refrain as a signal that he’ll run as a Washington outsider: "I often say after eight years in Washington, I longed for the realism and sincerity of Hollywood."
