At Thursday night’s Democratic debate, after the pageant of candidates each took their place on stage, one by one, and after Hillary Clinton deflected and even shelled out attacks with the aid of an asbestos pantsuit, it came time for Joe Biden to speak.
“No, no, no, don’t make me speak,” he feigned to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
Finally, about 15 minutes in, Joe Biden said, “Hey look, let’s get to it folks, the American people don’t give a darn about anything that’s going on up here.”
But he’s perhaps been the mpost adept at the media . His demeanor is of a man just kind of putting up with the charade, waiting for it to finish and hoping for the best. And in that sense, he does stand out. It’s not just his one-liners — more than any other candidate, he’s come up with the best so far — it’s that he’s often been the most precise on offering a plan for what to do next. You may not agree with it, or him, but it’s a plan.
