Bob Barker’s long goodbye to “The Price is Right” will come to an end June 15.
That’s the date CBS has set for the final first-run Barker-hosted episode of the quizzer. Seg is expected to tape at CBS Television City on June 6.
Given the publicity surrounding Barker’s final farewell, Eye has decided to air the episiode twice. In addition to its normal daytime run, seg will also air that Friday in primetime.
Eye’s gameplan is to repeat Barker’s last “Price” at 8 p.m., using it as a lead-in to its broadcast of the 34th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Barker is up for two awards this year, so it’s possible June 15 could turn into a Bob-a-palooza on the Eye.
CBS aired two primetime specials feting Barker last week, both of which did solid ratings.
Once Barker’s finale airs, CBS will broadcast repeats of “Price” featuring Barker throughout the summer. New segs won’t air until the show’s season premiere in the fall.
CBS and “Price” producer FremantleMedia North America have yet to announce Barker’s replacement.
