Nickelodeon has beefed up its fourth-season order of buddy comedy “Drake & Josh,” the No. 1 live-action television show among kids 2-11.
Kids network has greenlit an additional seven episodes, bringing the total commitment for season four to 20 episodes. Stars Drake Bell and Josh Peck also have signed to direct several episodes of the upcoming season.
Last month Nickelodeon Movies and the Collective announced production on a feature based on the series (Daily Variety, April 6). Series creator Dan Schneider and Steve Molaro will pen the project, which will follow the well-off but sheltered Josh as he gets a crash course in life experience from popular slacker Drake.
Skein’s latest cycle is averaging 3 million viewers overall. January premiere of the original movie “Drake & Josh Go Hollywood” delivered Nick’s highest made-for ratings with kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14.
Production on new episodes is under way for a September launch.
