“The Devil Wears Prada” has now passed the $311 million mark at the global box office — and it is still in first run overseas.
And on Dec. 12 the DVD goes on sale — and available to Oscar voters. The DVD has some cast additions — and one deletion. Producer Wendy Finerman told us of a comic seg on the disc in which the crew of the film dons items of the voluminous wardrobe seen in a montage scene of Meryl Streep’s magazine headquarters. Finerman, herself, modeled lingerie for the DVD takeoff — but then decided to put herself on the cutting room floor.
She was among those celebrating both “The Devil Wears Prada” and “Notes On A Scandal” party hosted by 20th’s Tom Rothman, Jim Gianopulos, Elizabeth Gabler and Carla Hacken at Jessica and Tom Rothman’s home. It was the eve of the National Board of Review’s announcement in which both “Prada” and “Notes” were saluted in the top ten — as well as Fox Searchlight’s “Little Miss Sunshine” and “The History Boys.”
Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci were on hand for “Prada”, Greg Kinnear for “Sunshine.” Forest Whitaker who won the NBR’s best actor award was getting congrats for his portrayal of dictator Idi Amin in the “Last King Of Scotland.”
And they’re off and running in the first heat of the Oscar race.
