“We take care of our own” is the motto of the Motion Picture and Television Fund and it was never more evident than at the 4th annual “Night Before” Oscars party Saturday night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Ken Scherer, CEO of the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s Foundation said $6.1 million was raised at this event and Jeffrey Katzenberg, Chairman of the Foundation said he’d continue to head the annual fundraiser — “forever.”

While it was a Hollywood event, two other stars were major hits of the evening. They were Olympic Gold Medal Winner (snowboarding) Shawn White, and Silver medal winner, skater Sasha Cohen. They were congratted by celebs including Tom Cruise and very-expectant wife-to-be Katie Holmes, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Felicity Huffman and husband William H. Macy, Jake Gyllenhaal, George Clooney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William Hurt, Scarlett Johansson, Marcia Gay Harden, Paul Haggis, Ang Lee, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Marlee Matlin. Also there Tom Selleck, telling me he’ll be back for three more “Boston Legal” segs.

Jamie Foxx took over deejay duties for a spell and the dance floor was crowded with the likes of Oliver Stone. Among the music lovers, Elton John and more sports stars including Serena and Venus Williams. Plus exex including Bob Iger, Alan Horn, Les Moonves, Jim Gianopulos, Ron Meyer and Brad Grey. They all toted home hefty goodie bags with gifts from the night’s corporate sponsors, McDonald’s, L’Oreal, Target, AOL, Hewlett-Packard — and there was one lucky Lexus winner. And in each car of the departing guests, a copy of corporate sponsor Variety — an original “Night Before” creator.
