Jason Alexander directs Sam Shepard’s play “God Is Hell” bowing (tonight), Wednesday June 28, at the Geffen theater (producing director is Gil Cates).
Meanwhile, Cates takes a break from editing his last Sunday-D.C.-taped “An American Celebration at Ford’s Theater” (airs 10 p.m., July 4, ABC) to be on hand for the Alexander-reined play.
And on Friday, Alexander wings to D.C. to host “Happy Birthday America” with “Sesame Street’s” Elmo.
This show airs 8-9:30 p.m., PBS, July 4 from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Let’s hope D.C.’s grounds are dried out by the time Alexander gets there.
Last weekend’s rains ko’d many guests from segueing from Cates’ Ford Theatre taping to the post-party.
On the Ford Theatre stage finale, George W. congratted comedian Steve Bridges who did a remarkable carbon of the President –including his foibles — on the show. They weren’t edited.
