Wrigley chews on Celador

Exec was head of special entertainment projects at BBC

U.K. indie Celador, creator of “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?,” has tapped reality specialist Ruth Wrigley as head of entertainment.

Wrigley, who produced the first three U.K. series of “Big Brother,” will play a key role in the new structure of Celador following its management buyout.

She will head Celador’s entertainment development team, with responsibility for creating and pitching formats plus executive producing shows.

Wrigley joins Celador from the BBC, where she was head of special entertainment projects and oversaw “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?,” a hit for flagship web, BBC1, that auditioned hopefuls to play the part of Maria in a West End production of “The Sound of Music.”

Celador’s outgoing head of entertainment, Colman Hutchinson, is stepping down, having opted out of the management buyout.

He will continue as executive producer on “Millionaire” under new ownership at 2waytraffic, and undertake various roles for Celador.

Wrigley is a former head of entertainment and factual entertainment for Endemol, TalkbackThames and Leopard Films Intl..
