The World Cup continues to set records for German broadcasters: More than 15 million viewers tuned in for Brazil’s 1-0 win over Croatia on Tuesday night, giving pubcaster ARD a 52.3% share.
Airing World Cup games for the first time, RTL Television achieved its second best ratings in its history on Sunday. Viewers tuned in to RTL to watch Portugal’s 1-0 victory over Angola.
But RTL is still attracting viewers with the hugely popular “CSI: Miami.” Show attracted 2 million viewers on Tuesday, garnering an 18.3% share for the web, although the jubilance was cut short as viewers defected immediately afterwards to ARD for the Brazil-Croatia match, which achieved the second best ratings so far during the soccer championships.
With more than 20 million viewers and a 75.7% share, Friday’s opening game between Germany and Costa Rica on ZDF remains the most watched so far.
