Telenovelas return to Indonesia

Dori Media launches Vision 2

JAKARTA — Israeli-Swiss TV group Dori Media Int’l launched its first telenovela channel in Asia with the bow last week of Vision 2 in Indonesia.

Channel is the first of its kind in Asia. The popular Latin American series dubbed into Bahasa will screen for a minimum of 18 hours a day.

Carriage is aboard satellite pay-platform Indovision. Revenues will be split evenly between satcaster and Dori.

Dori Medai Int’l is a subsidiary of Israel’s Dori Media Group which operates telenovela channels Viva and pay web Viva Platina in Israel. It produces the genre for Latin America and distributes internationally from its 2,500 hour library.

Telenovelas were hugely popular in Indonesia in the late 1990s and repeats are still a big non prime time attraction.
