BARCELONA — Top-selling Euro toon skein “Pocoyo” will debut this week on RTP2, the second channel of Portuguese pubcaster RTP. It will be broadcast twice a day throughout the week.
Made up of 52 seven-minute episodes, “Pocoyo” is a multi-award winning pre-school animated series that has already been licensed to more than 100 countries, including the U.K., Germany, France and Japan.
Turning on the adventures of a guileless blue-bonneted infant, the toon series is directed by David Cantolla and Guillermo Garcia, and co-produced by Spain’s Zinkia Ent. and Granada Intl.
The launch in Portugal follows immediately on the successful debut of “Pocoyo” on Spain’s La 2, the culture channel of pub-caster RTVE, which has hiked its transmissions from once to twice a day, at 8.45 a.m. and 13.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.
Italian cable/satellite kids’ channel RAI SAT YoYo will be the next channel to launch “Pocoyo” in Europe, airing the series from November.
Madrid-based Zinkia Ent. produces TV content, focusing on animation and interactive products for new platforms.
