Hearst Entertainment & Syndication has tapped Spanish film and TV exec David Nunez as general director of Cosmopolitan TV, Hearst’s Spanish femme-targeted channel.
Nunez replaces Yolanda Ausin Jan. 30. Nunez will consolidate the channel’s expansion and also will rep Hearst Entertainment & Syndication in Spain.
The 33-year-old exec has been managing director of Francisco Ramos’ Spanish indie production house Alquimia Cinema for three years. Before that, he oversaw and managed the launch of Cosmopolitan TV in Spain and Latin America as Hearst Entertainment Intl.’s financial manager and secretary of the board of management.
After six years in Spain, Cosmopolitan TV now reaches 2.5 million households via Sogecable satcaster Digital Plus, Spain’s main cable TV operators such as ONO and Telefonica’s ADSL service Imagenio.
Per audience research company Corporacion Multimedia, in 2005 Cosmopolitan TV ranked No. 14 among niche channels in Spain, averaging a 1.5% pay TV share and 507,000 viewers.
Hearst Entertainment & Syndication is responsible for Hearst Corp.’s interests in cable TV networks, TV production and distribution, newspaper syndication and merchandise licensing.
