COLOGNE — Toppers of Germany’s dominant broadcasters will be on the main panel at next month’s Medienforum NRW confab in Cologne, the umbrella event for the Intl. TV Congress and Intl. Film Congress.
The confab will run May 21 to 24, earlier than usual to avoid an overlap with June’s World Cup soccer tournament in Germany. This means the Film Congress, hosted by Filmstiftung NRW, will overlap with the Cannes Film Festival.
The TV Summit panel will feature ProSiebenSat 1’s Guillaume de Posch, RTL TV Anke Schaeferkordt, pubcaster ARD’s Fritz Pleitgen, pubcaster ZDF’s Markus Schaechter and Georg Kofler of pay web Premiere. Herbert Kloiber of Tele Muenchen will make a rare appearance.
A focus topic in the year of the soccer World Cup will be sports rights. The confab will also discuss new regulations for betting, and its potential as a side activity for broadcasters.
