German production company Studio Hamburg has wooed Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt away from the executive board of Haim Saban’s TV group ProSiebenSat 1 to head its Polyphon unit beginning July1.
Exec was a producer from 1986 through 2001 at shingles Akzente and Neue Deutsche Filmgesellschaft. His portfolio includes four movies with “Downfall” helmer Oliver Hirschbiegel.
“Producing films has always been my passion, and I would like to do my fifth movie directed by Hirschbiegel,” Meyer-Burckhardt said.
At ProSiebenSat 1, he was in charge of corporate development, regulatory affairs and media policy. He joined the group in 2004, following three years with publishing group Axel Springer.
Meyer-Burckhardt’s departure comes at an uncertain time for ProSiebenSat 1, as Axel Springer’s attempt to buy the group is being stymied by German regulators.
The group has not appointed a successor to Meyer-Burckhardt.
