‘Celebrity Poker’ plays New Orleans card

Bravo to lens new season in Big Easy

The biz is returning to the Big Easy.

Bravo is set to lense the new season of “Celebrity Poker Showdown” in New Orleans. In addition, Allstate has signed to become title sponsor for the 2007 Sugar Bowl as the game returns to the city after relocation to Atlanta this year.

“Celebrity Poker” will be filmed at the recently restored Harrah’s Casino. Harrah’s sustained storm damage and was initially used as a base of operations for the first hurricane responders. Joining current host Dave Foley will be new co-host Phil Hellmuth, a poker legend with nine World Series under his belt.

All celebrity gamesters in the upcoming season will be playing for charities benefiting victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Over its seven seasons, the series has given away some $2.5 million to charities.

In 2007, the Allstate Sugar Bowl will be held in the New Orleans Superdome. Fox will carry the game and hopes to have an economic impact as sizeable as the $175 million generated by the 2005 game.
