Arab confab eyes new date

Camar TV eyes November dates

CAIRO — The Arab region’s largest TV mart, Cairo Intl. Market for Radio and TV Production (Camar TV), has been postponed from July until November for its 12th edition.

“Participants, especially from the Arab world, expressed their preference for November,” says Maha Darwish of state broadcaster the Egypt TV and Radio Union (ERTU), which organizes Camar TV. “We deferred to popular demand but have not yet set a date.”

Camar TV is held at Media City in Cairo’s desert outskirts. Last year there were 130 booths repping 22 countries.

Last year’s closing ceremony was canceled July 7 after Egypt diplomat Ihab Al-Sharif was assassinated in Iraq.
