‘Wah-Wah’ wows viewers at AFI

Grant bio big in H'wood

HOLLYWOOD — A slew of actors came to Richard E. Grant’s autobiographical, “Wah Wah” at the AFI Directors’ May 9 screening. Kathrine Narducci asked Grant if his mother had seen the film.

She would in July, he said, but “actually seeing herself bonking in the first scene on a screen this size, she may have a heart attack.” Following the family tree of Grant’s acting career, the Q&A that followed was hosted by Steve Martin; aud included Winona Ryder, Julian Sands, Eric Idle, Tracey Ullman and Michael York, with Emily Watson lending on-screen support. A fete at Sterling Steakhouse followed.
