NEW YORK — “Notes on a Scandal” scribe Patrick Marber might have found some inspiration at Fox Searchlight’s preem for the pic Monday night.
After all, his legit play “Howard Katz,” which opens Off Broadway March 8, follows a onetime tough-as-nails agent who has fallen on hard times. “We’re going into rehearsals, and I’m very involved at the beginning,” said Marber. “I’m also very involved at the end. I let the director handle the middle.”
In comparison to Marber’s Katz character, bizzers were schmoozing at Gotham’s tony, white-marbled Metropolitan Club for a “Notes” after-party.
Making the scene were the studio’s Peter Rice and Jim Gianopulos, as well as pic’s stars Cate Blanchett and Bill Nighy. Busy Marber will head back to Blighty, where his “Don Juan in Soho” is running, to celebrate the holidays in advance of “Katz’s” launch.
