MTV Networks has upped Hank Close to president of ad sales.
Close, who had managed the MTVN’s Music/Comedy/Logo group, will now oversee U.S. sales for all of the MTVN brands including Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, the N, TV Land and Spike. He will continue to report to MTVN prexy-chief operating officer Michael Wolf.
Meanwhile, exec VP-general sales manager Sue Danaher, who had overseen the latter Nickelodeon brands now under Close’s watch, is ankling the company.
Wolf credited Close with “skillfully mining new opportunities and championing innovative multiplatform solutions that helped MTVN outperform the market in this year’s upfront.”
Before his promotion to exec VP in 2005, Close was exec VP of ad sales for Comedy Central. Before that he spent 12 years in ad sales at Fox.
Danaher joined MTVN as senior VP and national sales manager in 1993. She was upped to exec VP-general sales manager in 2000, responsible for all advertising sales strategies across all platforms for Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, the N, TV Land and Spike. She previously held senior positions at Young & Rubicam, Benton & Bowles, USA Networks and Turner Broadcasting.
