U.K. film praiseries Premier PR and McDonald & Rutter are merging under the Premier banner.
Premier, owned by Miracle Media Group, has agreed to buy McDonald & Rutter, owned by Charles McDonald and Jonathan Rutter.
The two will be run jointly by McDonald, Rutter and Premier chief exec Sara Keene.
McDonald & Rutter’s 17 staffers will transfer to Premier, which has some 45 staffers in London and five in Los Angeles. There will be no significant redundancies on either side.
The companies have complementary strengths. McDonald & Rutter is the leading rep for arthouse movies and auteurs on the Euro fest circuit, while Premier is better known for handling U.K. and international campaigns for U.S. studios.
Premier has a well-established TV arm, with clients including Tiger Aspect and Sony Pictures TV Intl. McDonald & Rutter has a burgeoning West End theater division, repping upcoming stage shows “Spamalot” and “Wicked.”
Unlike McDonald & Rutter, Premier has an L.A. office, run by Pamela Godwin-Austen. It also has a brands and events division and a personal client list that includes Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan.
McDonald & Rutter was founded in 1994. Premier PR was founded in 2001 when Miracle merged Corbett & Keene, which it bought the previous year, with two small praiseries.
Miracle is owned by David Willing and John Reiss. Their empire also includes trailer outfit Picture Production Co., marketing agency Beatwax and design agency North Creative.
