Raising ‘Caine’ on B’way

Former 'Friend' makes stage debut

No “Friends” turned out to fete David Schwimmer‘s Broadway debut at Sunday’s opening of “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.” But he was far from friendless: Michael Cerveris, Lily Rabe, Sam Rockwell, Richard Schiff and John Krasinski were among those mingling at the post-opening soiree at Sardi’s.

Also there was Herman Wouk, whose 1951 novel was adapted into the 1954 courtroom drama on the boards at the Schoenfeld Theater.

During the opening-night curtain call, Schwimmer brought the 90-year-old scribe out onstage; for a moment, Wouk was overcome with emotion.

“I dedicate this production of ‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’ to the guys in Iraq who fight the war,” he finally said.
