John Leguizamo will topline the CBS pilot “Edison,” while Scott Caan (“Ocean’s Eleven”) has joined the cast of ABC’s Danny Comden comedy and Cole Hauser (“2 Fast 2 Furious”) is set to star in Fox’s “Damages.”
Also, Norman Reedus (“The Notorious Bettie Page”) is digging in for Fox’s “13 Graves,” Fred Willard has been cast in CBS’ “Play Nice” and Fox has officially greenlit the comedy pilot “That Guy,” from Regency TV.
Leguizamo stars as an undercover cop in “Edison,” which comes from scribes Terri Hughes Burton and Ron Milbauer, who will exec produce with David Hoberman. Touchstone TV and CBS Paramount Network TV will produce.
Thesp most recently appeared as Ernesto Clemente in “ER.” He also appeared in the recent features “George Romero’s Land of the Dead” and “Assault on Precinct 13.”
Caan will appear in the untitled Comden laffer as Dick, a free spirit who lives on a houseboat and one of Danny’s oldest friends. Pilot, from exec producers Pete Aronson, Peter Johnson and McG, stars Comden as a man who realizes his life hasn’t lived up to his college graduation speech.
Besides “Ocean’s Eleven” and sequel “Ocean’s Twelve,” Caan will next star with Jennifer Aniston in the feature “Friends With Money.” He also directed upcoming pic “The Dog Problem,” starring Giovanni Ribisi.
As for Hauser, he’ll play one of the lead attorneys in the 20th Century Fox TV-produced “Damages.” Drama from scribe Jonathan Lisco revolves around lawyers juggling their personal lives and the ethical quandaries in their careers.
Thesp’s other credits include “Paparazzi,” “Tears of the Sun” and “White Oleander.”
Reedus joins the previously cast Matthew Lillard in “Graves,” a caper drama from scribe J.H. Wyman and 20th. It would be the first series role for the thesp, whose feature credits include “8MM,” “Boondock Saints” and “Blade 2.”
The versatile Willard, whose most recent TV gigs included “A Minute With Stan Hooper,” will star as toy company owner Roger in “Play Nice.” Also at the Eye, Lennie James (“Sahara”) has joined the cast of “Jericho” as Rod Hawkins.
“That Guy,” penned by Josh Lobis and Darin Moiselle (“South Park”), revolves around Everyman Rob Fowler, who gets a reality check on his life when he realizes his friends have become responsible, minivan-owning suburban dwellers.
Regency is producing with Ivan Reitman’s Montecito Pictures. Lobis and Moiselle will serve as co-exec producers.
