NBC’s recently restructured Burbank operation has a new No. 2: Peacock vet Jerry Petry has been named exec VP of administration for NBC Universal TV Group, West Coast.

Announcement marks the first exec change under Marc Graboff since he took over as NBC Universal TV Group, West Coast, prexy in January. Petry will report to Graboff.

As part of the newly created job, Petry will collaborate with Graboff in overseeing operations and administration issues for NBC on the West Coast. He’ll also work on special projects across all NBC Universal TV Group divisions and handle the company’s product development group.

Petry moves over from the syndication side, where he had served as exec VP of business operations and sales strategy at NBC Universal TV Distribution since May 2004.

Exec has been with NBC since 1976, spending his first 12 years at the net handling a wide variety of finance and business affairs jobs at both the Peacock and its owned station KNBC. He eventually worked his way up to top jobs in finance and business operations and was promoted to exec veep of NBC Enterprises in 1997.

Graboff called Petry “one of the most experienced and respected business executives in television.”

A board member of the Academy of TV Arts & Sciences Foundation and a director of the National TV Academy’s Intl. Council, Petry also serves as an assistant professor at Cal State Northridge.
