Nickelodeon has pulled together its management and creative teams from Nick Jr. and Noggin and set up umbrella division Nickelodeon Preschool.
Brown Johnson will keep her title of Noggin general manager while adding a new one: exec VP and executive creative director of Nickelodeon Preschool.
Previously, Nick Jr., which carves out a block of time every weekday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for ad-supported programming directed at kids 2-5, had its own staff, as did Noggin, the commercial-free preschool operation running from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. (Noggin becomes the N after 6 p.m. and programs to teenagers.)
Nickelodeon said it schedules 109 hours a week of preschool programming. That total gives it 56% of all preschool shows on TV, according to Nick.
In addition to promoting Johnson, Tom Ascheim, exec VP-general manager of Nickelodeon TV, has elevated two execs to Nick Preschool posts: Teri Weiss to senior VP of development and production and Angela Leaney to senior VP and creative director. Weiss was VP of development and production for Nick Jr., and Leaney was senior VP of brand communications for Noggin and the N.
