Arianna Bocco has ankled the Gersh Agency in Gotham to join IFC Films as veep of acquisitions and production.
At IFC, Bocco will report directly to IFC Entertainment prexy Jonathan Sehring. She’ll be charged with reeling in finished films that support the company’s acquisition strategy of growing its theatrical release slate with larger, more commercial projects. She’ll also acquire projects for the company’s development slate.
Bocco will spearhead acquisitions of 24 films annually for the IFC First Take banner, the unit’s day-and-date division.
“Jonathan has a tremendous vision for the company and I look forward to my role in helping realize this vision,” Bocco said. “It’s an exciting growth period for IFC and I’m happy to join at this stage, knowing that great achievements lie ahead.”
Bocco joined Gersh last year to head an independent feature packaging unit. She had previously worked at Miramax as a senior VP of acquisitions, bringing in such pics as “Garden State” and “The Station Agent.” She also held posts at New Line and its specialty unit Fine Line.
IFC’s recent slate has included the pics “Sherrybaby” and “Brothers of the Head.”
