Ryan Seacrest has recruited alternative veep Eliot Goldberg of the WB to run production and development for his Ryan Seacrest Prods. banner as senior VP.
Goldberg, who oversaw hit reality skeins “Beauty and the Geek” and “The Starlet,” will be charged with mining programs for E! Entertainment TV, where RSP is based, and other networks.
Hiring follows the $21 million talent deal Seacrest struck with E!, calling for the “American Idol” host to serve as lead anchor of “E! News” and providing him with a base for his RSP shingle at the cable net’s Los Angeles headquarters (Daily Variety, Dec. 21).
“It was imperative for me to find an executive with extensive experience on the buying, selling and producing sides of the business,” Seacrest said. “By bringing Eliot into the fold, it enables me to position RSP as a full-service production company.”
RSP produced the recent E! special “Eva Longoria: The Interview,” which delivered 618,000 viewers at 10 p.m. on April 17, up 27% from its “Simple Life” lead-in. Hour is one of several interview-style specs Seacrest will host and produce for the cabler.
During his time at the Frog, Goldberg supervised the productions of “Survival of the Richest” and “Critics Choice Awards.” Before that, exec was VP of current programming at Stone Stanley Entertainment.
