Eye boosts laff leader

CBS ups Mendoza to VP of development

CBS has upped Edy Mendoza to vice president of comedy development at the Eye.

Mendoza, who helped develop the net’s upcoming sitcom “The Class,” previously served as director of comedy development, a position she had held since September 2001. She reports to Wendi Trilling, exec VP of comedy at CBS, who made the announcement Monday.

Trilling said Mendoza had “made significant contributions to the success of our comedy lineup.”

Mendoza’s credits also include the development of CBS laffers such as “Two and a Half Men,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and “How I Met Your Mother.”

The exec has worked in the Eye’s comedy department since September 1996, when she joined CBS as Trilling’s assistant. She was later bumped up to supervisor in 1998, and manager in 2000.

Mendoza’s Eye roots stretch back to her college days at UCLA, when she interned at CBS’ media relations department between 1994 and 1996.

Beyond CBS, Mendoza serves on the board of the Imagen Foundation.
