The CW has found its top reality exec, tapping Jennifer Bresnan to head up its alternative programming department.

Bresnan will serve as senior VP, developing skeins and overseeing the existing hits “America’s Next Top Model” and “Beauty and the Geek.” She will also oversee midseason entry “The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll.”

Bresnan joins the CW from the production ranks, having worked on shows such as “American Idol,” “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart” and “The Swan.” Her experience encompasses all forms of alternative series, such as competition skeins, docudramas, celeb profiles and entertainment news.

Announcement was made Thursday by the CW entertainment prexy Dawn Ostroff. Bresnan will work under Ghen Maynard, exec VP of alternative programming/new media entertainment content at CBS Paramount Network TV Entertainment Group.

Bresnan’s other credits include “Paradise Hotel” and “High School Reunion 2.” She started her career focusing on music-oriented television, producing segments of VH1’s “Behind the Music.” She was also a producer for VH1 News and MTV’s “BioRhythm.”
