‘Anatomy’ of a fest launch

Skein feted at Paley fest

WHAT: Tuesday’s tribute to “Grey’s Anatomy,” launching the Museum of Television & Radio’s William S. Paley Festival at the Directors Guild Theater.

WHO: Cast and crew of the ABC hit, including creator Shonda Rhimes; thesps Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Isaiah Washington, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, Kate Walsh and James Pickens Jr.; exec producers Mark Gordon, James D. Parriott and Betsy Beers; co-exec producer/helmer Peter Horton; and supervising producer Krista Vernoff.

INITIAL ENCOUNTER: T.R. Knight, who plays George on the surgical skein, answered a question on how the actors’ personalities come through in their characters. While moving, he managed to back his rented U-Haul into a fast-food restaurant’s awning. Coincidentally, “Law & Order’s” J.K. Simmons, whom he’d just met at the SAG Awards, drove up and quipped, “So I guess there’s not much separation between you and George, is there?”
