PHENOMENAL WOMEN: Perry said his most profound experience during production came while shooting on a former plantation occupied by 150 slaves. He sat with pic’s Maya Angelou and Cicely Tyson as they discussed Billie Holiday and Miles Davis. The women star in a particularly poignant scene that, Paseornek said, “gives me goose bumps every time. I feel like I’m watching history.”
