It was certainly an all-star evening Monday at the preem of Robert De Niro‘s “The Good Shepherd” at the Ziegfeld Theatre. But some of the pic’s stars made the event look more like the All-Star game: When helmer De Niro coaxed thesps Matt Damon and Billy Crudup to the stage, Boston Red Sox fanatic Damon greeted his cohort with an emphatic high-five perhaps fit more for a dugout than a gala.
For his part De Niro was just happy to have made it to the finish line on his Cold War-era passion project. “I can’t believe it’s finally become a reality,” said the seemingly stunned hyphenate. “It’s been such a journey!”
A bash at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall followed to serve as a benefit for De Niro and producing partner Jane Rosenthal‘s Tribeca Institute.
