Merlin merges with Double Jab

Two companies expected to generate $17.7 mil a year

LONDON — Talent management company Merlin Elite is investing an undisclosed multi-million dollar amount to buy independent production outfit Double Jab Productions.

The merger will provide Double Jab founders, Stuart Watts and Dave Crowe, with substantial funds for recruitment and program development. The company recently signed a 10-film production deal with Universal Music.

The two companies, which will continue to trade under their current names, are expecting to generate a combined £9 million ($17.7 million) in revenue in the first year. Merlin founder Richard Thompson will become chairman of the new group with Watts taking the title of production director and Crowe new business director.

Merlin’s clients includes singers Jay Kay, of Jamiroquai, Russell Watson, Amy Nuttall and Louise Redknapp; supermodel Jodie Kidd; and British sports stars Matt Dawson, Ben Cohen, James Beattie, Graeme Le Saux and Jamie Redknapp.

“With Merlin Elite’s roster or ‘content’ and Double Jab’s filmmaking ability and creativity, the synergy to develop music, sport and broad-based entertainment programming around Merlin’s roster is enormous,” said Thompson in a statement.
