Ben Cameron, who for eight years led the Theater Communications Group, the national service organization for nonprofit professional theaters, will leave the org at the end of June to become program director for the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
TCG managing director Joan Channick will lead the organization starting in July. Cameron’s successor is expected to be named by the fall.
From 1988-92, Cameron worked for the National Endowment for the Arts, serving as director of the theater program beginning in 1990. Prior to this appointment, he had been senior program officer at the Dayton Hudson Foundation and manager of community relations at Target Stores.
TCG represents 442 theaters in 47 states and the District of Columbia, and 17,000 individual members. Its annual conference is slated for June 8-10 in Atlanta.
