Singer/songwriter Van Morrison, screenwriter William Monahan and helmer/scribe Terry George will be feted by the U.S.-Ireland Alliance at its second “Oscar — Wilde: Honoring Irish Writing in Film” pre-Academy Awards party, Feb. 22, at the Wilshire Ebell in Los Angeles.

Al Pacino will present the award to Morrison who will perform. Actress Roma Downey will emcee.

The event is sponsored by the Irish Film Board, Walt Disney Studios and Culture Ireland and hosted by the U.S.-Ireland Alliance, a non-profit organization created to foster ties between the U.S. and Ireland.

Trina Vargo, founder and prexy of the Alliance, said the event was also created to “bring together leaders in the Irish film community with their Hollywood counterparts at a fun, casual Irish party.”
