Geraldine Chaplin is toplining “The Totenwackers,” a children’s adventure mystery directed by Ibon Cormenzana, which went into principal photography last week.
A rare Spanish venture into family film entertainment, pic turns on a family that moves into an old house haunted by the ghost of its former owner.
“Totenwackers” is produced by Galician production and investment company Filmanova Invest, Barcelona production company Arcadia Motion Pictures and U.K. production and financing company Future Films.
Other key cast on the E3.5 million ($4.5 million) Spanish-language film include Natalia Sanchez (“The Serranos”), Mar Regueras (“The Weakness of the Bolshevik”) and Celso Bugallo (“The Sea Inside”).
“Totenwackers” shoots in Barcelona through June. Pic is director/producer Cormenzana’s second feature after his 2001 directing debut, “Jaizkibel,” a delicate drama about a painter contemplating suicide.
