Indie distrib ThinkFilm has acquired worldwide rights to “Fuck,” the docu by Steve Anderson that takes an in-depth look at the expletive, featuring appearances by celebs from Drew Carey and Billy Connolly to Alanis Morrisette and Ice-T.
Think will release the pic, which recently played the South by Southwest film fest, later this year, followed by a run on Showtime.
Think previously handled another docu with dirty words, “The Aristocrats.” Unit is working on “Farce of the Penguins,” a parody of the docu “March of the Penguins,” to be narrated by Samuel L. Jackson.
“Everything about the way we advertise, publicize and even discuss this film requires us to be thoughtful, original and fresh,” said Mark Urman, Think’s distribution head.
“Aristocrats,” which Think acquired at Sundance and released last summer, brought in about $6.4 million theatrically.
“Fuck” was produced by Anderson via his Mudflap Films.
Rainstorm Entertainment’s Steven Kaplan exec produced, along with Gregg Daniel, Bruce Leiserowitz, Jory Weitz and Richard Ardi.
