Colombian thesp Catalina Sandino Moreno has been cast in Antoni Cuadri’s historical adventure pic, “The Heart of the Earth.”
Set against the background of real-life social upheavals at Andalusia’s Rio Tinto copper mine in 1888, Sandino Moreno plays Blanca Bosco, a nurse’s daughter who becomes friends with the mine manager’s niece Katherine, played by model-turned-actress Sienna Guillory.
Pic also features Hugh Dancy (“King Arthur,” “Black Hawk Down”), Cuban Jorge Perugorria (“Guantanamera”), Joaquim de Almeida (“Desperado”) and Bernard Hill (“Lord of the Rings”).
Budgeted at E12 million ($14.3 million) and rolling in southern Spain from March 31, “Heart” is produced by Spain’s Manufacturas Audiovisuales and Abra Prods., the U.K.’s Heart of the Earth Prods. and Future Film, and Portugal’s Costa do Castelo Filmes.
International sales are handled by the London-based Sequence Film/IAC Films.
