LONDON — U.K. indie distrib Tartan Films and Arts Alliance Media, Europe’s leading provider of digital film distribution services, have inked an exclusive digital rights and services deal that will see AAM provide all Tartan’s digital distribution needs for a three year period.

The agreement covers Tartan’s forthcoming releases — including Aussie oater “The Proposition” and punk drama “Brothers of the Head” — and the home distribution of pics from Tartan’s eclectic back catalogue through video-on-demand and elec-tronic-sell-through.

Under the pact, AAM will provide digital cinema encoding, encryption, digital cinema prints and security keys as well as digital content storage, mobile and portable device streaming for all Tartan films and trailers. AAM will have exclusive rights to distribute Tartan content via VOD, EST and portable device streaming.

“We believe that operating through an exclusive digital distributor enables us to channel our marketing far more effectively than if it was to be spread thinly across several companies,” commented Tartan topper Hamish McAlpine.

AAM won the bid to install the U.K. Film Council’s Digital Screen Network (DSN) in February 2005 and recently launched a trial network in Norway.
