Sony Pictures logs library

Collection to provide Sony footage access to producers

NEW YORK — Sony Pictures Entertainment and Thought Equity, a stock footage supplier, will unveil today the Sony Pictures Collection, a library of film footage that includes scenes shot during the production of hits such as “Spider-Man” and “Men in Black.”

The Sony Pictures Collection is a partnership uniting content from SPE theatrical labels Columbia, TriStar and Screen Gems with Thought Equity’s technology and user experience. It will be offered to the production community through the Web address www.thoughtequity.com/sonypictures.

Denver-based Thought Equity, which recently inked a similar deal to rep HBO footage, specializes in the licensing of film and HD motion imagery to production professionals. The collection will provide producers worldwide with instant access to Sony footage.

“Sony Pictures Stock Footage will continue to service customers and sell content directly as we have been doing for many years,” said Brian Merriman, exec director for Worldwide Product Fulfillment for SPE. “However, taking on Thought Equity as an exclusive partner will extend our reach and bring our library of 70,000 clips to the attention of a much wider audience around the world.”

The collection is available for immediate download in high-definition and lower resolutions.
