Pair appear in police thriller 'La Chambre des morts'

PARIS — Young French thesps Jeremie Renier and Melanie Laurent have won France’s prestigious Jean Gabin and Romy Schneider Prizes for most promising actor and actress.

Laurent, 23, is currently on Gallic screens in “Je vais bien, ne t’en fais pas,” a low-key sleeper hit that has notched up a surprise 900,000 ticket sales for StudioCanal theatrical subsid Mars Distribution since its release six weeks ago.

The pic was produced by Christophe Rossignon’s Nord Ouest Productions.

Renier, lead in the Dardenne brothers’ Palme d’Or winning “The Child,” and Laurent will appear together in the upcoming police thriller “La Chambre des morts,” adapted from a best selling novel. Pic is produced by Produire a Paris and directed by Alfred Lot, who was first assistant director on “Kiss of the Dragon.”
