Kudos recognize realistic drug abuse depictions

HOLLYWOOD — “Rent” and “Walk the Line” will compete for top wide-release film at the 10th annual Prism awards.

Limited-release nominees are “Dig!,” “Pure,” “Down to the Bone,” “Last Days” and “Be Here to Love Me: A Film About Townes Van Zandt.”

Film performance noms went to Rosario Dawson, “Rent”; Anne Hathaway, “Havoc”; Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, “Walk the Line”; and Christina Ricci, “Prozac Nation.”

Socially conscious kudos, presented by the Entertainment Industry Council and the National Institute on Drug Abuse, recognize entertainment that depicts drug abuse and addiction realistically.
