Par Vantage hails ‘Details’

Pic is based on a short story by Mieville

Paramount Vantage has put its attention on “Details,” acquiring the horror script from scribe Dan Kay for Paramount-based Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Prods. to produce.

High-concept pic is based on a short story by China Mieville and centers on the psychological phenomenon of pareidolia, the erroneous perception of a pattern or meaning in something that’s actually ambiguous or random. It tells the story of a daughter who disappears after uncovering a demonic force only she can see and the father who stops at nothing to bring her back.

Blum will produce, with Steven Schneider and Ian Levy serving as exec producers. Deal for “Details” reunites Blum with his former Miramax Films colleague and producing partner Amy Israel, now exec veep of production and acquisitions for Paramount Vantage.

Blum produced the indie “Griffin & Phoenix,” which recently bowed at the Toronto Film Festival.
