Honorary Oscar to Lansing

Former Paramount chairman honored for humanitarian efforts

Sherry Lansing, former chairman of Paramount, will receive the Acad’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Oscar will be presented to Lansing during the 79th Academy Awards ceremony on Feb. 25.

The Hersholt Award is given to an individual whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the motion picture industry.

Lansing has worked in support of fighting cancer and served on the boards of many charitable organizations. She helped Dr. Armand Hammer form the nonprofit organization Stop Cancer and serves on its board. She is also on the boards of the Albert & Mary Lasker Foundation, American Assn. for Cancer Research, Citizens’ Oversight Committee of the California Institute for Stem Cell Research and the American Red Cross Board of Governors Advisory Committee.
