Franklin ankles Telefilm Canada

Co. has not named a successor

MONTREAL — Karen Franklin, director of English operations at Canuck film funding agency Telefilm Canada, is ankling the corporation, it was announced Wednesday. No reason was given for her departure, and Telefilm has not named a successor.

The move comes four months after Telefilm tried unsuccessfully to appoint a new film czar for English-speaking Canada.

Los Angeles-based film exec Michael Jenkinson had accepted the post of feature film executive for the English-Canadian market, but the week he was to have started, Telefilm announced he would be unable to do so.

In a statement, Franklin said, “Now feels like the right time for a change. I am ready and excited to see what life is like outside Telefilm.”
