LONDON — U.K. cinema chain Vue Entertainment has appointed EMI chairman Eric Nicoli as its non-exec chairman.

Nicoli will work closely with Vue CEO Tim Richards to continue the loop’s growth in the U.K. and Ireland.

“This is a key appointment for Vue. Eric’s track record as a corporate leader in second to none,” Richards said.

Nicoli commented, “I was impressed by Vue’s achievement of rapidly becoming the best in the business, so the opportunity to join the company was a hugely attractive and exciting proposition for me.”

In June this year, its management led a £350 million ($690 million) buyout of the company from its original private equity shareholders. The deal was undertaken in partnership with the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Vue has 59 theaters with almost 600 screens, and a market share of more than 20%. The loop is planning to open 10 more multiplexes over the next two to three years.
