‘Dhoom’ scenes ready for action

Lensing for sequel moves to S. Africa

Action scenes for the much-anticipated sequel to the 2004 hit “Dhoom” will be shot on locations around South Africa next month.

Some scenes for action thriller “Dhoom 2” — starring Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and Uday Chopra — have just completed lensing in Brazil; the action now moves to South Africa.

The Avalon Group of Cinemas would be facilitating the South African shoot of the Yashraj Films production.

Avalon managing director A.B. Moosa announced the project at the official opening of the company’s Lenasia Cinecentre multiplex in the predominantly Indian-origin suburb of Lenasia south of Johannesburg. He said he’s excited to be bringing such a big Bollywood production to South Africa for the first time.

Moosa said the shoot would involve fast-paced action sequences including helicopter chases in as-yet-undisclosed scenic locations.

The shoot was expected to boost Indian tourism to South Africa, said Moosa, since it would showcase the country’s beauty; also, Indians historically have been attracted in large numbers to holiday locations featured in popular Bollywood pics.
