Yari’s readies ‘Skool’ laffer

Shingle pickin' 'Kickin''

Bob Yari Prods. has lined up its next film, the laffer “Kickin’ It Old Skool.”

Harvey Glazer will make his directorial debut on the pic, and Jamie Kennedy and Maria Menounos will topline. Christopher McDonald, Miguel Nunez, Aris Alvarado, Bobby Lee, Debra Jo Rupp, Alan Ruck, Michael Rosenbaum and Vivica Fox round out the cast.

Lensing commences April 5 in Vancouver. Yari’s production shingle will produce with Kennedy’s Jizzy Entertainment and Hi-Def Entertainment.

Penned by Trace Slobotkin, Josh Siegal and Dylan Morgan, “Skool” centers on a 12-year-old breakdancer, who in 1986 hits his head while performing at a talent show and as a result is comatose for 20 years. He awakes to find he is a grown man and attempts to revive his dance group’s career.

Yari, Kennedy, Hermansen and Phillip Glasser are producing, with Paul Rogers, Jeff Cooper, Stuart Stone and Josh Etting serving as executive producers. Syndicate Films Intl. will handle foreign sales.

Kennedy next stars in the MTV series’ “Jamie Kennedy’s Blowin’ Up.”

Menounos was recently seen on “Scrubs” on NBC and has a cameo on an upcoming episode of HBO’s “Entourage.”
